Getting to Macedonia
By plane
The best place to fly into is Skopje International Airport (SKP). The second best choice would be Pristina International Airport (PRN) which is an 1hr away from Skopje. Thessaloniki (SKG) is 3hrs away.
If you are planning on traveling in Europe before/after the wedding, it could be cheaper to book round flights to one of the major European airports (Frankfurt, Istanbul, Lisbon, etc) and to buy cheaper regional flights to all of your destinations.
Booking a round trip will always be cheaper than one-way flights. Book as early as you can; flights get more expensive with time. Let us know if you need help figuring out your tickets and travel plans.
Make sure you have a valid passport, since you need it to fly internationally!
From the Airport to Skopje:
When you have your arrival flight booked, let us know. We may be able to coordinate a pickup.
Taxis from the airport to the city have a flat cost of 20 Euro, if we book them ahead of time.
If you intend to stay longer or travel in other parts of Macedonia, there are car rental services at the airport.
Traveling by bus
All of the buses that commute internationally arrive at the Main Train Station in Skopje. You can look at the schedule here.

In the Balkans, Google Maps more reliable than Apple Maps.
Traveling within Macedonia
Within Skopje
Wedding activities are generally within walking distance in central Skopje, near our recommended accommodations.
For your own excursions, we recommend taxis, which are cheap. Whenever possible, have a Macedonian-speaking person call the cab for you and/or travel with a Macedonian-speaking person to avoid paying a “tourist tax.” Our recommended taxi company is Global Taxi. Their phone number is 15180. They also have an app where one could order a cab.
While possible to take the red buses, they can be unreliable, hard to understand as a foreigner, and hard to pay for (even though a bus ride is less than a dollar).
We would generally advise against renting a car for your time in Skopje, because parking is hard to find and complicated to pay for. This is a better option for travel outside of Skopje.
Destinations outside Skopje
To travel within Macedonia, (ex. going to Ohrid or Bitola from Skopje), buses can be a really easy and cheap option. You need to buy a ticket in the International Train Station for which you can only pay in cash. You can find all the info for the buses, their schedule, destination, and price here.
For traveling within Macedonia/Europe, renting a car could make more sense. Parking (except for in Skopje and Ohrid) is usually not a problem and renting cars is quite cheap (some suggested companies below).
If you want to go to Matka by bus, you can look at the detailed guide here.
